Particle Board /Chipboard is a kind of artificial board formed by hot-pressing a mixture of wood or plant fiber fragments (such as bagasse, straw, etc.) and adhesives. Due to its low cost and convenient processing, it is widely used in many fields
● Furniture Making
Particleboard is the core material of panel furniture, especially suitable for:
- Cabinet body board: The box structure of wardrobes, bookcases and kitchen cabinets (often used in combination with veneer).
- Desktop/countertop: After being covered with a wear-resistant layer (such as melamine veneer), it is used as the base material for office desks and kitchen countertops.
- Drawer bottom and back plates: Low-load-bearing parts to reduce costs.
- Sofa/bed frame inner frame: Concealed structural part, surface covered with fabric or leather.
Advantages: Low price, easy to process (cutting, edge banding), good stability (not prone to deformation)
● Construction and Decoration
- Partition wall/ceiling: Lightweight soundproof wall or ceiling base layer (moisture-proof treatment required).
- Floor cushion: Laid on the floor joist as the base layer of the composite flooring (high-density particleboard is required).
- Core material of the door: The filling layer of the interior door (with wood veneer or PVC attached to the surface).
Temporary building formwork: One-time concrete pouring formwork (with waterproof reinforcement required).
Note: Ordinary particleboard is not moisture-resistant. For construction purposes, moisture-proof type (by adding waterproof glue or wax) should be selected.
● Packing and Logistics
- Transport pallets: Light-duty cargo pallets (alternative to solid wood, reducing costs).
- Cushioning packaging: Custom-molded inner lining, protecting electronic products, glassware, etc.
- Display stand: Temporary exhibition stand, shelf (with decorative paper attached to the surface).
Advantages: Lightweight, recyclable, suitable for short-term use
● Decorative and creative uses
- Veneer base material: The surface is covered with wood grain paper, PVC film, fireproof board, etc., and is used for decorative panels.
- DIY handicrafts: After carving and painting, make photo frames, decorative painting bases, etc.
- Acoustic materials: Drilled and used as sound-absorbing boards (such as the walls of cinemas and recording studios)
● Other Special Application
Back plates of electrical appliances: Back covers of televisions and refrigerators (with good insulation).
Agricultural uses: Greenhouse partitions, seedling trays (anti-mold treatment required).
Customized application: Meet fire protection requirements through special adhesives (such as flame-retardant adhesives)

● Precautions
- Poor moisture resistance: Ordinary particleboard is prone to expansion when exposed to water. In humid environments, moisture-proof boards (with green labels) or waterproof coatings should be selected.
-Limited load-bearing capacity: Not suitable for use as a load-bearing structure (such as shelf columns), it needs to be matched with a frame or OSB (oriented strand board) should be selected.
- Environmental protection grade: Choose E0/E1 grade adhesives (low formaldehyde) for indoor furniture
