I. Introduction to Directional Particle Board
OSB (Oriented Strand Board) is an engineered wood panel made by oriented layering of wood strands, bonded with resin and consolidated under heat and pressure. The strands are aligned cross-directionally in three layers (face layers longitudinally/core layer transversely), providing high strength, rigidity, and dimensional stability. OSB offers advantages in raw material efficiency (compatible with fast-growing species/small-diameter logs) and environmental performance (no formaldehyde emissions), making it a mainstream alternative to plywood.
Production Process
1.Log processing
Debarking → Stranding → Drying (3-5% MC)
2. Gluing and Directional Treatment
Resin Blending → Oriented Forming (Surface: 0°-15°, Core: 45°-90°)
3. Hot pressing molding
Continuous Press: 180-220°C/15-25MPa, Curing 40-90s
4. Post-processing
Cooling → Trimming → Sanding (Thickness tol. ±0.1mm)
Ⅱ.Continuous press machine
1.working principle
Continuous presses operate via a steel belt circulation system
1. Forming Station: Oriented strands form a continuous mat;
2. Pre-press Zone: Initial compaction to remove air;
3. Hot Press Zone: Mat passes through heated rollers (180–220°C, 3–5 MPa) under steel belts for resin curing;
4. Cooling Zone: Gradual pressure/temperature reduction to relieve internal stress;
5. Cutting System: Sawing the continuous strip to length.
> Advantages: High output (speeds up to 1,200 mm/s), thickness accuracy (±0.1 mm), 15–20% lower energy consumption vs. batch presses.
2.Core Structure and Composition
Hot press plate system: Composed of multiple heating plates, the interior is heated by heat transfer oil or steam to provide uniform temperature.
Steel belt system: Two circulating steel belts (upper and lower) hold the slabs and run continuously to ensure uniform pressure transmission.
Hydraulic system: Pressure is applied through hydraulic cylinders, and the pressing force in different areas can be adjusted in sections.
Control system: PLC or computer control, real-time monitoring of parameters such as temperature, pressure and speed.
Auxiliary equipment: includes paving machines, pre-pressing machines, cooling sections, sawing systems, etc.
