Medium Density Fiberboard
MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is an engineered wood panel made by refining wood fibers (from logs, branches, or recycled wood), blending with resin, drying, forming into a mat, and pressing under high temperature and pressure. It has a homogeneous structure with a typical density range of 720–800 kg/m³.
Product feature | Description |
homogeneous structure | Homogeneous structure: No grain direction, uniform cross-section density |
fiber morphology | Fine wood fibers (length: 0.5–5mm, diameter: 20–50μm) |
adhesive | Urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin (E1-grade low-formaldehyde formula) |
additive | Paraffin wax (water repellent), ammonium sulfate (curing agent) |
✅ Smooth Surface: Ideal for direct laminating, painting, or coating.
✅ Superior Machinability: Resists chipping during sawing, drilling, carving.
✅ Eco-Friendly: E1 formaldehyde emission (≤0.124mg/m³), safe for indoor use.
✅ Cost-Efficiency: Low raw material cost (waste wood usable), high output, 1/3–1/2 price of solid wood.
✅ Dimensional Stability: Isotropic structure resists warping/cracking.
Production Process
1. Raw Material Preparation:
Chipping → Screening (remove debris) → Washing (remove dirt)
2. Fiber Refining:
Steam Preheating (170–180°C) → Defibration (Refiner)
3. Resin Blending & Drying:
Fiber Resination (UF + wax spray) → Pipeline Drying (moisture: 8–10%)
4. Mat Forming & Pre-pressing:
Air-formed Mat → Pre-press (initial compaction)
5. Hot Pressing:
Continuous Press (180–210°C, 2–3.5MPa, 20–40 sec/mm thickness)
6. Finishing:
Cooling → Trimming → Sanding (double-side calibration) → Grading → Packaging

"Economy-grade MDF" achieves cost reduction by
Raw Material: ≥60% recycled content (formwork, furniture scraps)
Process: Minimal sanding (≤0.5mm removal), lower density (720–750kg/m³)
Resin: Optimized UF formula (resin usage ≤100kg/m³)
Energy: Waste heat recovery cuts steam consumption by 30%
Environmental Protection E1 Grade
1. Core Features of Eco-Friendly E1-Grade Panels
1.1 Strict Formaldehyde Control (Core Eco-Index)
Emission Limit : ≤ 0.124mg/m³ (Climate chamber method, GB/T 39600-2021)
Health Safety : Safe for indoor use ; no irritant odor, no respiratory risks from long-term exposure
Global Compliance: Meets China E1, EU EN 13986, US CARB Phase 2 standards for worldwide acceptance
1.2 Eco-Friendly Production Technology
Adhesive Upgrade : Uses low F:U ratio UF resin or formaldehyde-free MDI to reduce free formaldehyde
Additive Control : Formaldehyde scavengers (e.g., urea, starch derivatives) neutralize residual formaldehyde
Green Manufacturing : Closed resin system + exhaust gas incineration (VOC reduction >90%)
1.3 Application Advantages
Home Furniture : Safe for enclosed spaces (children’s furniture, wardrobes, kitchens)
Construction Projects : Mandatory for public spaces (hospitals, schools, hotels)
Export Compliance : Breaches EU/US "green barriers"
1.4 Economic Value-Add
Certification Premium : 10–15% price premium vs. non-certified panels (high-end market demand)
Supply Chain Edge: Qualifies for green procurement lists (IKEA, Oppein) and large projects
Legal Risk Mitigation : Avoids recalls/fines
2. Eco-Grade Comparison (Key Differences)
Grade | Formaldehyde Limit | Applications | Cost vs. E1 |
E1 | ≤0.124mg/m³ | 90% interior decoration | Baseline |
E0 | ≤0.050mg/m³ | Nurseries/medical rooms | +20–30% |
NAF | ≤0.009mg/m³ | Premium custom/sensitive | +50–80% |
Scale advantage:
✅ Cost advantage: The cost per cubic meter of our product is ¥200 - ¥300 lower than that of small factories.
✅ Market control: We can cover a market area with a radius of 500 kilometers (accounting for 40% or more of the provincial demand).
✅ Risk resistance: We maintain a 10-day inventory buffer during raw material fluctuations (small factories have a buffer of no more than 3 days).
