What are Multi-layer Composite Boards?  

A multi-layer composite board is a panel manufactured by bonding multiple raw materials of different properties (such as wood fiber, plastic polymer, paper, metal, or textiles) with an adhesive (like resin) under high temperature and high pressure in a single molding process. It is not made from a single material but combines the advantages of different materials to achieve comprehensive properties that a single material cannot offer.

1.  Layered Structure: Typically consists of a multi-layer structure such as a core layer, decorative layer, and wear-resistant layer, with each layer serving a different function.

2.  Designable Performance: The physical properties of the board (such as strength, sound insulation, thermal insulation, waterproofing, fire resistance) can be customized by adjusting the materials and structure of each layer according to the end-use requirements.

3.  High Strength-to-Weight Ratio: Can be made lighter while ensuring strength.

Continuous press      

A continuous press is an industrial equipment used for large-scale, continuous production of panels. Unlike intermittent presses (which press one panel at a time), the material moves continuously through the press while simultaneously undergoing heating, pressing, and curing processes.

Working Principle

  Prepared raw materials (such as glue-coated particles, fibers, or surface mats) are formed into a continuous, uniform "mat" on a steel belt by a forming station.

  This mat enters the continuous press through the inlet.

  Inside the press, the mat is sandwiched between two massive steel belts and passes through a pressing zone consisting of a series of heated platens.

  The heated platens provide consistent high temperature (heating) and high pressure (applied by hydraulic cylinders via rollers to the steel belts), causing the adhesive in the mat to melt and cure.

  Throughout the pressing process, the mat moves continuously. Loose material enters at the inlet, and a continuous, cured strip of panel emerges from the outlet, which is then sawn into individual panels by cross-cutting saws.

  Pressing Pressure: Typically 200 - 800 tons, or even higher, depending on product requirements.

  Operating Temperature: Typically 150°C - 250°C, adjusted based on the resin type.

  Press Opening: Determines the thickness range of producible panels.

  Production Line Speed: Typically 0.5 - 2.5 meters/minute, directly affecting output.

  Annual Production Capacity: Measured in cubic meters or square meters, e.g., 50,000 to 300,000 m³ per year.

  Total Installed Power: Reflects the total energy consumption of the equipment.

What is Rapid Mold Change?  


Rapid Mold Change is an advanced manufacturing technique aimed at minimizing the downtime required for production equipment when changing product molds. Its core concept involves categorizing all changeover activities into "external setup" (tasks that can be performed while the machine is running) and "internal setup" (tasks that must be performed while the machine is stopped), and then streamlining or even eliminating internal setup through process optimization, tooling improvements, and automation.



Rapid Mold Change specifically refers to:

  Using a multi-station mold carrier or rotary mold table system to pre-prepare the mold for the next production task (including cleaning, pre-heating, and filling) outside the press.

  When the current pressing cycle ends, the press briefly opens, and the finished mold is moved out of the working position while the prepared new mold is moved in, via automated horizontal movement or rotation.

  Using a hydraulic automatic clamping system to quickly lock the new mold in place, with the PLC system automatically calling up the process parameters for the new mold.

  The entire process is completed within minutes, enabling rapid switching between the production of different board specifications and significantly improving production flexibility and equipment utilization.
