MINGHUNG
The thermal oil heating, fast-closing multi-layer hot press is a high-end device specifically used for hot pressing of Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and High Density Fiberboard (HDF). It circulates high-temperature thermal oil to heat the hot platens, which heat and press the fiber mat, fully curing the resin adhesive to form a dense, high-strength panel. The equipment adopts a multi-layer structure and incorporates fast-closing technology, significantly increasing production rhythm while ensuring pressing quality, making it suitable for large-scale, continuous wood-based panel manufacturers.

Working Principle
Loading: Pre-pressed MDF mats are automatically fed between each layer of hot platens by a loader.
Fast Closing: The hydraulic system drives the moving beam upward at high speed, rapidly closing all hot platens and greatly reducing non-pressing waiting time.
Pressing & Thermal Oil Heating: The main cylinders apply the set forming pressure, while high-temperature thermal oil (typically 180-230°C) enters the internal channels of the hot platens, rapidly heating the mat to the adhesive curing temperature.
Pressure & Temperature Holding: The set pressure and temperature are maintained for a specified time to ensure firm bonding between fibers.
Pressure Release & Fast Unloading: The thermal oil circuit is opened to cool down and reduce pressure. The hydraulic system quickly opens the press, and the finished MDF boards are automatically pushed out for cooling and post-treatment processes.

Main components
The following are the main components of the thermal oil heating, fast-closing multi-layer hot press for MDF, which are also applicable to general steam or thermal oil heated multi-layer hot presses.
1. Frame
A closed or open frame structure consisting of upper beam, lower beam, and left/right columns. It withstands the enormous pressing force and ensures overall rigidity and stability.
2. Hot Platen Set
Multiple vertically movable hot platens with internal channels for thermal oil circulation. The platen surfaces are precision-machined to ensure uniform pressure distribution. Made of high-quality carbon steel or alloy steel.
3. Thermal Oil Heating System
Includes thermal oil circulation pump, electric heater (or boiler heat exchanger), expansion tank, oil pipelines, and temperature sensors. Provides a stable high-temperature heat source with temperature control accuracy within ±1.5°C.
4. Hydraulic System
Main cylinders: Mounted on the lower or upper beam, providing the forming pressure.
Fast-closing cylinders (auxiliary cylinders): Enable high-speed rising and lowering of the moving beam.
Hydraulic power unit: Comprising oil pump, motor, tank, various control valves (proportional valve, directional valve, relief valve, etc.), and accumulators (for fast closing).
Hydraulic pipelines and fittings.
5. Fast-Closing Mechanism
Consists of high-flow control valves, accumulators, and fast cylinders. Significantly reduces closing time (≤12 seconds for full stroke), improving production efficiency.
6. Moving Beam
Connected to the main cylinders and fast-closing cylinders, driving the hot platen set up and down, transmitting pressure and closing force.
7. Control System
Industrial PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI touch screen.
Electrical control cabinet, sensors (position, pressure, temperature), actuators (solenoid valves, etc.).
Capable of storing multiple pressing process parameters and achieving fully automatic cycles.
8. Loading and Unloading System
Loader: Feeds mats between each layer of hot platens.
Unloader: Pushes the finished MDF boards out of the press.
Synchronous push-pull device ensures simultaneous loading and unloading of all layers.
9. Thermal Insulation Layer
Installed on both sides and the top/bottom ends of the hot platen set to reduce heat loss and improve energy efficiency.
10. Safety Devices
Overload protection, overpressure alarm, thermal oil overtemperature shutdown, emergency stop button, light curtain or safety limit switches, etc.
11. Lubrication System
Automatic centralized lubrication unit that periodically supplies oil to moving parts (such as column guide bushings and hinge points) to reduce wear.
12. Frame Connecting Parts and Guiding Devices
Includes column nuts, tie rods, guide bushings, guide sliders, etc., ensuring vertical lifting of the moving beam and preventing eccentric loading.
