MH-OSB
MINGHUNG

OSB Production Process
1. Raw Material Preparation: Debarked logs are converted into wood chips by a large drum chipper, then processed into extra-large strands (100-200mm long, 0.6-1.0mm thick) by specialized large-strand flakers.
2. Drying & Classification: Large strands are uniformly dried to target moisture content in a clog-resistant rotary dryer, then precisely classified into surface and core layer materials via multi-deck screening.
3. Blending & Storage: Classified strands are evenly coated with waterproof adhesives like MDI or phenolic resin in high-efficiency ring blenders and stored in large buffer silos.
4. Oriented Forming & Pre-pressing: Mechanical or pneumatic orienting formers arrange surface strands parallel to the production direction and core strands perpendicular or randomly, creating a strong cross-oriented mat. The mat is then initially compacted by a heavy-duty pre-press.
5. Continuous Hot Pressing: The mat enters a continuous press, where adhesives are cured and the mat is densified under precisely controlled temperature (200-220°C) and pressure, forming a continuous board strip.
6. Post-pressing & Conditioning: The pressed board is cut-to-length, force-cooled, stacked, and conditioned in a climate-controlled environment for 48-72 hours to stabilize board properties.
7. Sanding, Trimming & Packaging: Conditioned stacks are calibrated by thickness sanding, precisely trimmed to size, and then undergo inspection, grading, and automatic packaging before warehousing.

Equipment Description
1. Large-Strand Specific Preparation System:
Heavy-Duty Drum Flaker: The core equipment, featuring specially designed knife discs and feeding mechanisms to efficiently produce long, thin, intact large strands with minimal fines generation.
Clog-Resistant Triple-Pass Dryer: Engineered for large strands prone to tangling, with unique internal lifter and airflow designs for uniform, efficient drying while significantly reducing clogging and fire risks.
Large-Strand Screening Line: Utilizes wide, high-capacity multi-deck vibrating screens with specially designed mesh for smooth passage and accurate classification of large strands.
2. Heavy-Duty Blending & Forming System:
High-Capacity Ring Blender: Provides ample mixing space and time for uniform coating of high-viscosity MDI resin on each large strand with high precision.
High-Precision Oriented Former:
Surface Layer Head: Employs mechanical roll-type or electrostatic-assisted pneumatic systems for precise orientation of long strands, crucial for achieving high axial strength (MOE, MOR).
Core Layer Head: Ensures random or perpendicular orientation for good transverse strength and internal bond.
Continuous Weighing & Scanning: Monitors mat weight and density profile in real-time to ensure uniformity.
3. Core Pressing & Forming System:
Heavy-Duty Continuous Hot Press: Optimized in length and opening for large-strand mat pressing. Features a high-rigidity frame, precise multi-zone pressure control (up to 5-6 MPa), and a uniform thermal field to ensure complete strand compaction and resin cure, producing high-density, high-performance heavy-duty boards.
High-Strength Steel Belt System: Uses thickened, high-tensile alloy steel belts with advanced tension and steering control to handle large-strand mat pressing and ensure stable operation.
4. Reinforced Finishing System:
Heavy-Duty Cross-Cut Saw & Reinforced Cooler: A high-power cross-cut saw severs the high-strength board strip. The cooler uses reinforced star wheels and powerful fans for rapid, uniform board cooling.
High-Precision Calibrating Sanding Line: Equipped with heavy-duty sanding units (typically 6-8), high-power motors for stable, aggressive sanding of high-density OSB, ensuring excellent thickness tolerance and surface finish.
5. Intelligent Central Control System:
Integrates advanced DCS/PLC systems for centralized monitoring and automated control of the entire process from strand preparation to packaging. It includes process optimization, fault diagnosis, quality data tracing, and energy management functions, ensuring stable, efficient, and intelligent operation.
Large Strand Oriented Structural Board (OSB) is an advanced engineered wood structural panel manufactured by orienting and pressing oversized wood strands into a cross-oriented mat.
Key Characteristics:
Exceptional Structural Strength: The continuous fiber length of large strands and pronounced orientation effect grant the board extremely high bending strength, modulus of elasticity, and tensile strength, surpassing traditional OSB and some plywood grades in load-bearing capacity.
Outstanding Dimensional Stability & Creep Resistance: The dense cross-oriented structure and mechanical interlocking of large strands minimize deformation under long-term load and humidity changes, making it suitable for permanent load-bearing structures.
Superior Fastener Holding & Connection Properties: High density and large-strand structure provide powerful screw holding strength and withdrawal resistance, ensuring secure and reliable connections.
Good Moisture Resistance & Durability: Manufactured with waterproof adhesives like MDI, meeting OSB/3 and OSB/4 standards for long-term use in humid conditions.
Eco-friendly & Economical: Utilizes fast-growing thinnings or small-diameter logs for high resource efficiency. Offers a high strength-to-weight ratio, reducing transportation and installation costs.
Typical Specifications & Standards:
Common Thicknesses: 9mm, 11mm, 15mm, 18mm, 22mm, 25mm.
Common Sizes: 1220x2440mm, 1250x2500mm, or custom sizes.
Standards Compliant: Meets OSB/3 or OSB/4 grades per international standards such as EN 300 (Europe), CSA O437 (Canada), ASTM D1037 (USA).
Large-strand high-strength OSB is primarily used in structural applications demanding rigorous mechanical performance and durability:
1. Heavy-Duty Construction & Structural:
Wood Frame Construction: Used as sheathing for walls, floors, and roofs (decking), especially in long-span residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
I-Joist Webs: Manufactured into prefabricated wood I-joists for floor and roof systems.
Concrete Formwork: Serves as reusable concrete formwork panels due to its high strength and water resistance.
2. Logistics & Packaging:
Heavy-Duty Pallets & Crates: Used for manufacturing super-load pallets and crates for heavy machinery, automotive parts, etc.
Container Flooring: Used as wooden flooring for freight containers and trailers, offering wear resistance and high load capacity.
Shelving Decking & Warehouse Dunnage: For industrial shelving and storage systems.
3. Special Vehicles & Transportation:
Truck & Trailer Body Panels: Used for interior walls and floors of box trucks and refrigerated vans.
RV Flooring & Wall Panels: Provides lightweight, high-strength structural material.
4. Other Industrial Uses:
Exhibition & Stage Subflooring: For load-bearing stages and exhibition platforms.
Agricultural Building Envelopes: For barns, storage sheds, etc.
