MINGHUNG
This equipment is the core of modern, large-scale, high-efficiency, high-quality production for wood-based panels (primarily Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and High Density Fiberboard(HDF)), especially suitable for factories requiring wide thickness ranges and high output volumes.
Continuous Flat Pressing
Concept | Unlike traditional multi-opening batch presses, continuous flat presses use two continuously circulating, heat- and pressure-resistant steel belts to clamp the formed fiber mat. This mat continuously passes through a long, heated, pressurized zone (the press body). Heating, pressing, and curing occur while the mat is in motion. |
Advantages |
Pressing and heating while in motion results in more uniform internal stress distribution, reducing warping (especially in thick boards). Superior density gradient control enables production of boards with denser surfaces and a slightly less dense core, improving product performance (e.g., screw holding, dimensional stability). Excellent surface quality (benefiting from smooth steel belts).
|
Thermal Oil Heating
Concept | The press body's heated platens contain internal circulation channels. High-temperature thermal oil flows through these channels, efficiently and uniformly transferring heat to the platen surfaces, which then heats the mat clamped between the steel belts. |
Advantages |
|
Main Components of the Equipment
1.Forming and Pre-pressing System
Forming Station | Distributes dried fibers evenly and quantitatively onto the moving steel belt (or caul plate), forming a continuous fiber mat. Forming precision directly affects the density uniformity of the finished board |
Pre-press | Typically located after the forming station and before the main press. Applies initial pressure (cold or low-temperature hot pressing) to the loose mat, giving it sufficient initial strength and compaction for smooth entry into the main press and expelling some air. Critical for ultra-thin boards (2-5mm). |
2.Main Hot Press Body: The core of the equipment.
Frame | Massive steel structure designed to withstand enormous closing forces (typically thousands to tens of thousands of tons). |
Upper/Lower Heated Platens | Composed of multiple large, high-precision steel plates with complex internal circulation channels. These platens are the direct source of heat. |
Upper/Lower Steel Belts | Two high-strength, high-gloss, heat-resistant endless steel belts. The upper belt covers the mat, the lower belt supports the mat (and caul plate if used). They transmit pressure to the mat while separating it from the hot platens, providing a smooth surface. Belts require precise tensioning and guiding. |
Hydraulic Pressurization System | Powerful arrays of hydraulic cylinders (typically arranged in zones along the press length) provide the massive pressure required to compact the mat (typically 3-5 MPa or higher). Pressure can be controlled independently per zone to adapt to different thicknesses and density requirements. |
Thermal Oil Heating System | Thermal Oil Boiler/Heating Station: Heats the thermal oil to the set temperature (typically 200-240°C, depending on process and product). Thermal Oil Circulation Pumps: Provide the force for forced oil circulation within the system. Oil Distribution & Collection Piping: Complex network of pipes distributing hot oil to the inlets of each heated platen and returning cooled oil to the heating station. |
Temperature Control System | Precisely controls oil temperature and flow rate for each press zone (and even different areas within a single platen), ensuring uniform temperature across the press length and width. Crucial for consistent board quality. |
Expansion Tank, Filters, Safety Valves, etc. | Ensure safe and stable system operation. |
Thickness Gauge | Located at the press entrance, precisely sets the gap between the upper and lower steel belts, directly determining the finished board thickness. For the wide 2-40mm range, the gauge requires a large range of precise adjustment capability. |
3. Steel Belt Drive and Tensioning System
Drive rolls move the belts continuously; tension rolls maintain constant belt tension to prevent slippage and misalignment. Speed is adjustable to suit different thicknesses and production rates (slower for thick boards, faster for thin boards).
4. Board Exit and Cooling System
Exit Device | Guides the cured continuous board strip out of the press exit. |
Cross-cut Saw/Longitudinal Saw | Cuts the continuous board strip into required lengths (and widths). |
Cooling Star Cooler/Cooling Racks | Rapidly and uniformly cools the hot board, releasing internal stresses, stabilizing dimensions, and preventing warping. Critical and time-consuming for thick boards (especially near 40mm). |
5. Control System:
Highly automated PLC/DCS system integrating control of forming density, pre-press pressure, pressure per zone in the main press, temperature, belt speed, thickness gauge position, and all other key process parameters. Monitors equipment status in real-time, logs production data, ensuring stable product quality and efficient production.
