I. Working Principle & Quick-Closing Technology
The multi-layer hot press adopts the flat-pressing method. After forming, the mats are fed into each layer of the hot press simultaneously via the loader. The hydraulic system drives the platens to close quickly, applying pressure and heat to the mats. Under high temperature and high pressure, the adhesive on the particle surfaces melts, spreads, penetrates, and cures, firmly bonding the wood particles into a unified panel.
The Core Value of Quick Closing: For multi-layer hot presses, closing speed is a critical factor affecting product quality. Without a simultaneous closing device, platens close from the bottom upward sequentially; lower mats are heated under low pressure for extended periods, causing premature curing of surface resin (known as "pre-cure"), resulting in low-density board surfaces, excessive sanding allowance, and reduced physical strength. The quick simultaneous closing device ensures all platens contact the mats simultaneously, providing identical heating and pressure conditions across all layers, reducing the closing and pressure-rising time to within 16 seconds, significantly minimizing the pre-cure layer thickness and improving the modulus of rupture and surface quality of finished boards.
II. Core Structure
1. Frame System
Constructed with high-strength columns or multi-housing frame structures (4-column, 6-column, 8-column configurations) featuring excellent rigidity and load-bearing capacity, capable of stably withstanding 1,000 tons of system pressure. The frame design ensures no deformation or displacement under long-term high-load operation.
2. Heated Platen System
The heated platens serve as both heat transfer devices and pressure distribution devices. Manufactured from high-quality solid steel plates with a thickness of ≥80mm, offering excellent thermal capacity and mechanical rigidity. Standard platen size is 4×8 ft (1220×2440mm), customizable according to customer requirements. Surface temperature uniformity is controlled within ±3°C to ensure consistent quality across all layers.
3. Hydraulic System & Fast-Oil-Supply Technology

Quick-Closing Cylinders: Equipped with rapid-rise cylinders (approx. Φ120mm diameter) for fast platen closing
Fast-Oil-Supply Hydraulic System: Adopts piston-pressurized oil supply cylinders combined with plunger pumps and accumulators, enabling rapid oil filling of working cylinders for quick load closing. Compared with traditional dual-pump or nitrogen accumulator oil supply methods, this solution saves 30%-40% electrical energy while offering enhanced safety and reliability
Pressure Control: Proportional valves precisely control the 4-stage pressure curve (quick closing—pressure ramp-up—holding—decompression), ensuring stable pressing quality
4. Simultaneous Closing Device
The simultaneous closing device is the core technology of quick-closing multi-layer presses, available in several types including hinged, tie-rod, and cone-pulley designs. The tie-rod type is most widely used, with compensators available in oil cylinder, spring, or air cylinder configurations to compensate for thickness variations between mats. This device ensures all platens contact the mats simultaneously, effectively eliminating the quality inconsistency issues common in traditional multi-layer presses.
5. Loading and Unloading System
Equipped with caulless loaders and unloaders, the system can feed multiple mats into the press simultaneously and withdraw finished boards synchronously. The loader/unloader works in precise coordination with the press cycle, significantly improving production efficiency and reducing labor costs.
6. Heating System
Thermal oil or steam heating can be employed, with circulation channels inside the platens ensuring uniform temperature distribution, with a maximum working temperature of 210°C. High-precision temperature control allows temperature curves to be set according to specific process requirements.
