MDF Production Process
The production process of MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) consists of the following main stages:
1. Raw Material Preparation
Logs are debarked and chipped, then screened to remove oversized or undersized chips. Metal contaminants are eliminated to ensure stable downstream operations.
2. Refining
Wood chips are softened under high temperature and high-pressure steaming, then fed into a refiner to be separated into fibers. By adjusting the refining plate gap, fiber fineness can be controlled to meet different board requirements.
3. Glue Blending & Drying
Fibers are mixed with urea-formaldehyde resin or MDI adhesive at a precise ratio, then rapidly dehydrated through a pneumatic flash drying duct. The moisture content is controlled between 8% and 12%, while ensuring uniform adhesive coverage.
4. Mat Forming
Dried and glued fibers are evenly laid onto a forming conveyor via mechanical or pneumatic forming heads, creating a continuous mat. The mat then passes through a pre-press to enhance its strength and thickness uniformity.
5. Continuous Pressing
The mat enters a continuous flat press, where it is cured under high temperature and high pressure. The press operates with closed-loop control, ensuring highly consistent density, thickness, and surface quality.
6. Post-treatment
This stage includes cooling, edge trimming, and intermediate storage, which release internal stresses and prevent panel warping.
7. Sanding & Cutting
Panels are thickness-calibrated through wide-belt sanders, then cut into standard sizes by precision saws according to customer specifications.
8. Inspection & Packaging
Finished boards undergo online inspection for thickness, density, and appearance. Qualified panels are automatically stacked, packaged, and prepared for dispatch.

Advantage
1. High Capacity & Efficiency
Annual output ranges from 50,000 to 300,000 m³, accommodating different production scales. Continuous press speed can exceed 1200 mm/s, significantly boosting output per unit time.
2. Superior Board Quality
Thickness tolerance is controlled within ±0.2mm, with uniform density and a smooth, flat surface, making it ideal for high-quality laminated finishing.
3. Energy-saving & Environmentally Friendly
Equipped with high-efficiency heat recovery systems to reduce thermal oil/steam energy consumption. Precise glue application minimizes raw material waste. Exhaust gas and wastewater treatment comply with international environmental standards.
4. Highly Automated
The entire line features integrated DCS/PLC control systems, enabling one-touch start/stop and automatic process parameter adjustments, reducing manual intervention and operational risks.
5. Flexibility & Adaptability
Quick product changeover between thicknesses (2–40mm) and densities (600–900kg/m³) to meet diverse order requirements.
6. Stable & Reliable
Core components are sourced from internationally recognized brands. The robust construction ensures low failure rates, with annual operation time exceeding 7200 hours.
